Praise for pensioner

A PENSIONER who leads the annual Port Glasgow poppy appeal has been commended for her tireless fundraising at Holyrood.

Kitty Ramsay recently received the President’s Award from Poppy Scotland for decades of hard work raising vital funds for the troops every November.

Labour MSP Paul O’Kane highlighted the former shop owner during a parliament debate on remembrance.

He said: “For decades, Kitty has selflessly campaigned on behalf of Poppy Scotland in Port Glasgow, and across Inverclyde, raising thousands of pounds.

“This is an exceptional achievement that I am sure Kitty is very proud to have received.

“It was a pleasure to chat to her and her husband Ronald and hear her say that she does it for all those who never came home from war to the streets of Inverclyde.”
