Indyref2’s day in court

-

THE Scottish Government will find out next week whether it can hold a second independence referendum without the consent of Westminster.

The UK Supreme Court, which heard legal argument at a two-day hearing in London in October, confirmed its judgment would be announced on Wednesday 23 November.

It comes after Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon set out her plans to hold a vote on whether Scotland should remain in the UK on October 19 next year.

Scotland’s Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain KC then asked Supreme Court judges to resolve the issue of whether Holyrood has the legal power to bring forward a bill to enable such a vote to be held.
