2009s battle to win

KILPATRICK 3 Port Glasgow Boys’ Club

2009s 4: The Port secured a hard-fought three points away from home.

The game started with both teams taking time to settle on a bizarre pitch with blue lines making it very difficult for both teams.

The boys took the lead 15 minutes in when Kai found some space and from around 25 yards unleashed a drive into the top right corner.

The visitors increased their lead a few minutes later when Connor got onto a cross and guided it into the far corner.

Kilpatrick were still a threat on the break through their pacey right winger and Patrick had two good saves to protect the lead.

Port Glasgow deservedly increased their lead with five minutes left of the half when Chris received a throw-in and smashed home from the edge of the box to make it 3-0.

Kilpatrick got back into the game when the home team won a penalty, which was slotted home to the ‘keeper’s right.

A minute later the hosts cut the deficit when the winger got onto a ball and fired a shot on target that Patrick managed to block only for the rebound to by tapped home.

The second half started as the first ended with a goal from the home team to draw them level at 3-3.

The game became very scrappy with the home team seeing more of the ball.

Both teams were trying to find a winner and the Port managed to score it.

The visitors were awarded a free-kick around 35 yards out, Chris took the setpiece and delivered it into the box and fired it straight into the net.

The final few minutes were frantic as the host looked to salvage something from the game, but Patrick and the defence stood firm to collect the points.
