GREENOCK MORTON MEN 1s..3 GRANGE MEN’S 3s ............... 0

AFTER a thrilling draw the week before, Greenock hosted Edinburgh’s Grange 3s at the weekend.

The game started well for Greenock with some high pressing right from the first whistle.

The goalscoring was kicked off in the first quarter by Ben Peterson, who calmly slotted home from a penalty corner.

The score was then doubled shortly after when the ball again broke to Peterson from an inch-perfect Harry O’Donnell pass.

Peterson received the ball at the top of the circle and fired a reverse strike past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

The third goal came just before the end of the first quarter when the ball was exchanged twice between Peterson and captain Harry O’Donnell.

The move ended with O’Donnell lifting it over the Grange ‘keeper who had slid, scoring from a yard out.

The rest of the game was controlled well by Greenock, with hosts not allowing Grange any real attempts on goal.

There were plenty of chances for Greenock in the remaining three quarters, but the majority were squandered.

Greenock were happy with the performance even with several missed chances and a missed penalty flick later in the game.

Thanks to Grange for coming to Kilmacolm for the game and to Graeme Kelly for umpiring the match. Man of the match this week goes once again to veteran midfielder David ‘Bruno’ Brown.

A comfortable masterclass in midfield for the maestro.
