Blinded By The Light

BBC3, 9pm 12 (2019) Adapted from Sarfraz Mansoor’s memoir, Blinded By The Light is an uplifting coming-ofage comedy, charting one downtrodden British Pakistani teenager’s Bruce Springsteen-inspired selfawakening in 1980s Luton. Sixteen-year-old Javed’s (Viveik Kalra) dreams of writing full-time must be extinguished to be a dutiful son to his seamstress mother Noor (Meera Ganatra) and father Malik (Kulvinder Ghir), who works on the production line of the local Vauxhall car plant.
