Nathan storms to his second junior crown

-

NATHAN Love was crowned junior champion of Whinhill Golf Club for the second year running after defeating Dean Black by the score of 7&6.

Both young golfers deserve tremendous credit for the attitude they showed and the quality golf they produced on a very wet and windy day.

Nathan had a commanding lead at the turn with four 4s and a 3, impressive figures given the difficult conditions.

Dean, who had been suffering from a bug before the final, never gave up and had some misfortune on a couple of the greens on the front nine.

Dean can be proud of his efforts in reaching his first ever junior championship final and for the continued progress he has made with his golf game this year.

He is not far off playing off a single figure handicap. At 13 years of age he has plenty years ahead of him to win a junior title.

Nathan’s second junior championship title caps off an excellent season – a season in which he has seen his handicap come down while gaining terrific experience by playing in just about every golf event he can.

At 13 years of age he has many great junior golfing days ahead of him. He will be a terrific ambassador for the club in next year’s Renfrewshire Golf Union and Inverclyde Golf Junior Champion of Champions events.

The Junior Championship was played throughout the summer season on a course in great condition.

The final between the two close friends was played in a tremendous spirit, with both boys a credit to themselves, their club and their families.

Congratulations go to Nathan, Dean and to all who took part in the junior championship.
