Union leaders urge fair pay

-

UNION leaders at IRH are urging bosses to table a fair pay offer to avoid strike chaos.

Nurses rejected a pay rise of £2,200 and could follow their colleagues in the Royal College of Nursing in walking out.

Raymond O’Donoghue, Unison convener at Inverclyde Royal, said: “Both GMB and Unite also voted for strike action and this includes engineers, paramedics and lab staff.

“Going out on strike is the last resort, we don’t want to get to that stage.

“There are few trade unions who want their members to strike and to be losing money during this cost of living crisis, and nobody wants to hurt patients.

“We want a negotiated settlement.”
