Rates need monitored

ANY increase in sex crimes will always be a concern to the authorities and members of the public.

But the 11 per cent rise which has just been recorded in the district is being attributed by Police Scotland to better awareness levels and people having more confidence to come forward to report such offences.

It is to be hoped that their explanation is correct, and that members of the local police scrutiny board will continue to monitor the situation closely.
