New chair at shipyard
A NEW chairman has been appointed for the board of Ferguson’s.
The Scottish Government has chosen aviation consultant Andrew Miller, Prestwick Airport’s former chief, for the key role at the nationalised Port Glasgow shipyard.
Mr Miller will begin his three-year stint next month, replacing Alistair Mackenzie who left in April for personal reasons.
He will be paid £500 per day for five days of work each month.
Deputy First Minister John Swinney, who thanked interim chair Robert Mackenzie for holding the role for the last six months, said:
“I am confident that Andrew’s experience will help to deliver ministerial priorities - the completion of the two ferries, securing a future for the yard and its workforce, and supporting Scotland’s island communities that rely on this type of vessel on a daily basis.”
