MORTON star Jai Quitongo says he’s ready to put brotherly love to one side when he goes head-tohead with brother Rico in the Scottish Cup tomorrow.

The striker is relishing the third round clash with Queen of the South, which will see him come up against his younger sibling for only the second time in their careers.

Ton face the League One side off the back of a fantastic run of eight games unbeaten.

But Quitongo says they won’t take Willie Gibson’s men lightly despite the Doonhamers losing their Championship status last term.

He told the Tele: “I am looking forward to it because my wee brother plays for Queen of the South.”

“It will be a really good experience.”

“I have only played against him once before, that was last season for Queen’s Park against Peterhead.

“Queen of the South are one of the better teams in League One.

“They won 4-0 [against Montrose] at the weekend, so they will be high in spirits as well.

“It is a break from the league, but we just need to keep doing what we are doing, and focus on what we are capable of and I am sure we will get a result.

“It is a one-off game. With the tie at Cappielow, it is a really difficult place to come, with the fans, and just the pace of the game, it is not one of the biggest pitches in the league.

“It is tight, it is fiery and quick, but we all enjoy it and we welcome the challenge from Queen of the South.

“We are all looking forward to it and we are all focused for the game tomorrow.”

Doonhamers frontman Ruari Paton has been on top form, with 11 goals to his name so far this season.

Quitongo heaped praise on his Queen of the South counterpart, who has been their main source of goals this season.

But the 25-year-old has stressed that Paton is just one of many players they have to keep a close eye on tomorrow.

He said: “They have got good players and Ruari is one of them. He is in great form, but they are a good team that can cause us problems.

“If we just stick to what we do, show the attitude that we have been showing in the last eight games, then I think we will get a result.”

The Ton striker knows there is an incentive to knock out the Dumfries side with the possibility of a glamour tie in the next round.

But Quitongo insists they are taking it one game at a time and not looking too far ahead.

He added: “We want to get through and get an even bigger tie.

“Everybody wants to play in the bigger ties, but we are just focused on tomorrow, getting through that, and seeing where it takes us.”
