Heroic return from Dunkirk

AT the outbreak of the Second World War, six destroyers were being built in Britain for the Brazilian Navy and all these were immediatel­y requisitio­ned by the Admiralty and brought into service with the RN.

One of these was HMS Havant, which had been launched as the Javary by J.S. White & Co at Cowes on the Isle of Wight during 1939.
