Warrant issued after no-show

-

A WOMAN who had a warrant issued for her arrest after failing to appear for trial at Greenock Sheriff Court was in Thailand when the case called.

Yasmin Sidhu, 26, is charged with failing without reasonable excuse to provide a specimen of urine for analysis in order to ascertain her ability to drive a car.

She flew back to Scotland after being told that police were looking for her over her court noshow earlier this month.

Defence lawyer Paul Keenan told the court: “Miss Sidhu was working in Thailand when the trial was due to take place. She learned of the warrant and her employers arranged a flight back for her.”

Sidhu, who is said to have committed the alleged road traffic offence after being stopped on Cathcart Street in June last year, appeared in person to plead not guilty to the charge.

The case is now due to call again next February, ahead of a trial rescheduled for March 7.
