‘We’ll draw inspiration’

-

GREENOCK boss Ian Nixon believes their battling draw against Kilsyth Rangers can galvanise his side as they look to steer clear of relegation troubles.

This weekend the Ravenscraig men host Glasgow United looking for three points to build some much-needed momentum before Christmas.

Nixon told the Tele: “We know Glasgow United well and they are a tough opponent with hard workers who won’t be coming to Ravenscraig for anything other than a win.

“They will be seeing our recent form and will fancy their chances against us.

“But the mood in our camp has lifted despite our league position.

“We know all it’ll take is a run of wins to propel us back up the table and with teams not too far in front we hope we can catch up.

“At the moment we are taking it one game at a time and not looking beyond Glasgow United.

“We have a few still injured and a couple coming back, so we feel the squad will be okay come kick-off.”

Following this weekend’s fixture, Greenock close out the 2022 calendar year with a trip to Maybole on Saturday December 10 and a home game against Wishaw a week later.

Kick-off at Ravenscraig tomorrow is at 1.30pm.

The will be holding a Christmas collection in support of Branchton Community Centre at Ravenscraig Stadium tomorrow.

The club are looking for donations of toys, toiletries, clothing and sweets.

● Greenock are sponsored by Saveheat, Keystore Cowal View, Declan Byrne Music and The Lighthouse Bar.
