‘Reasons to leave the Union’
IN response to J.R. Miller, I am not going to spend time going over every point, much of which is questionable in relation to currency, EU membership and Trident, but I want to focus on Scotland’s apparent deficit.
I always find it amazing that people who don’t want Scotland to become a normal independent nation already judge it as if it is independent.
Any deficit Scotland has is as part of an unequal, lopsided union that the UK Supreme Court confirmed Scotland has no route to leave without Westminster’s say so.
Further, if Scotland does have a 12 per cent deficit, why would you want to stay part of a union that has caused this?
The Scottish Government didn’t crash the economy, significantly weaken the pound and send interest rates spiralling.
I have much more confidence than J.R. Miller does that the people of Scotland would run their affairs far better than the Eton elite running Westminster.
