Warm welcome at Greenock church

A GREENOCK church’s warm welcome project has been a souper success.

City Church has trebled the number of people coming along to enjoy a bowl of soup and chat in only a matter of weeks.

People have been enjoying the companionship and the choice of five different types of soup at the friendly drop-in.

Beth Campbell, wife of Pastor Ian, said: “It’s been a great success. It’s starting to take off. We started with one table, now we have three, we’re aiming for four full tables next week.

“We’re a friendly church, people can come along for a bowl of soup and a chat. This is open to everyone, the whole community.”

The Soup Bowl runs every Wednesday between 3.30 and 5pm.
