A TRIO of big-hearted brothers are giving away all of their toys to help make sure every child in Inverclyde gets a gift this Christmas.

George, Andrew and Blake Findlay decided to make the touching donation after being moved by stories of families struggling amid the cost of living crisis.

The youngsters asked mum Astyn to launch an appeal on social media to find children who may otherwise have had nothing to unwrap on December 25.

She said:

“I’m so proud of them — they are such kind and lovely boys.”

A TRIO of kind-hearted brothers are hoping to put smiles on the faces of local families — by giving away most of their toys for Christmas.

George, Andrew and Blake Findlay have donated dozens of action figures and toy cars to help local kids who are less well-off have something special this Christmas.

Proud Port Glasgow mum Astyn Findlay says she was surprised when her eldest son Blake told her he wanted to make the big gesture.

The mum-of-three spread the word on social media and was able to find suggestions to help get the gifts to the neediest families.

But when Blake’s brothers found out about his idea, they too were keen to join in - and the family soon had scores of top toys to give away.

Astyn said: “Blake just turned around one day and said he didn’t really use his toys anymore and wanted them to go to a good home.

“He asked me if there was someone we could find that needed them more than him, someone that he could give them to.

“I recently saw someone on Freebies Inverclyde on Facebook getting donations together to help those in need and I asked Blake to ask if that’s what he’d like to do.

“I didn’t realise he would give away his entire toy collection.

“I’m so proud of him and his brothers. “They’re such lovely boys and I think it’s fantastic that they’ve decided to do this.”

Before giving away the gifts, the Newark Primary pupils and their mum ensured all of the toys were clean and in good condition.

George, seven, hopes that they can help make the festive season a happier time for some struggling families.

He said: “We want to help children in need by giving them some of the things we’ve had a lot of fun with.

“If they don’t have any, that’s so sad and we want to change that.”

His brother Andrew, nine, added: “We just want to try and help people have a lovely Christmas.

“It’s really important to be kind, especially at this time of year.

“We want every child to be able to smile when they wake up on December 25 knowing they will have something under the tree.”

Blake, 10, told the Tele that he and his siblings are just trying to do their bit for the community.

He said: “Around this time of year when you see Children in Need and other things like that, it makes you want to be kind and help people.

“I just decided to give almost all of my toys away and help people who might not have anything otherwise.

“We would be really sad if we didn’t have any toys at Christmas and I would want someone to do something like this for us if we needed it.

“I just want to try and make people happy.”
