Deadline to nominate local champions looms

-

THE deadline for nominations for the 2024 Greenock Telegraph Community Champion Awards is rapidly approaching - with all entries to be received by midnight tomorrow.

This is your final chance to put forward your local heroes, those special people who have gone above and beyond for others or excelled in a particular field.

Our communities here in Inverclyde are filled with many wonderful people whose incredible efforts to help others often don’t received the recognition they deserve.

Shining the spotlight on these brilliant community-spirited individuals and organisations is something that we at the Telegraph take pride in, and believe is hugely important.

We’ve already received many nominations for our various awards categories this year, but we’re sure there are others out there who deserve to be on the judges’ shortlist.

Our brilliant sponsors, without whose support we would not be able to celebrate our community champions, want as many entries as possible from which to choose.

Paul McCafferty, General Manager at Arnold Clark Greenock, said: “These awards play a significant role in recognising the extraordinary dedication and commitment demonstrated by individuals and groups across Inverclyde.

“We’ve always believed in rewarding the efforts of those who go the extra mile, and we’d strongly encourage everyone in the area to get behind their community champions.

“We’re especially proud to sponsor this year’s Charity Champion of the Year award. We work closely with charities and community groups all year round, and we’ve

seen first-hand the profound impact they can have on our local communities.

“If you know someone who has dedicated their life to supporting an amazing cause in Inverclyde, it’s time to recognise them for their efforts!”

Janine Brennan, director of sponsor Clyde Eats, said: “We encourage anyone aged 17 or under who has gone above and beyond, selflessly impacting the lives of others, to step forward.

“Individuals who create positive change in the lives of others deserve recognition.

“We firmly believe that achievements should be celebrated.”

Stephen Harrison, Communications and Marketing Business Partner, RCH Group, said: “RCH

is proud to sponsor Community Champion of the Year - recognizing the unsung heroes who selflessly dedicate their time and energy to our local community.

“RCH Group strongly believes in fostering social responsibility and giving back to the local area. Supporting this award showcases our commitment to these values and highlights the importance of community spirit – true community champions often go unnoticed. Sponsoring this award allows us to play a small role in acknowledging their dedication and the positive impact they have in Inverclyde.

“The awards are hugely important in highlighting the efforts of local people and how we can inspire others to create a more

positive and engaged local environment.

“We believe in celebrating these remarkable individuals who make a positive difference in the lives of others. For RCH Group, supporting this award reflects our commitment to a thriving Inverclyde – because a strong community benefits everyone.”

The award categories are: Sporting Champion, Teacher of the Year, Little Champion of the Year, Health and Care Champion, Senior Community Champion, Business Champion, Live Music Award, Charity Champion, Heart of Gold, and overall Community Champion of the Year.
