Retro style makes bold comeback

-

RETRO homewares are back and bolder than ever, according to independent tile specialists The Baked Tile Company.

It comes as the company launches Groovy Santana, a striking porcelain wall and floor tile that boasts a 60s-inspired pattern in a rich ochre and grey colourway.

Lesley Taylor, interior designer and founder of The Baked Tile Company, said: “A lot of properties in the UK were built in the 60s and 70s and what we are seeing is homeowners putting retro products back into the settings for which they were designed. Not only do they look amazing, but they cement the look and feel of the original architecture.

“Groovy Santana is the perfect example of a retro-inspired tile that works beautifully in a contemporary setting. And it’s just so much fun.

“Design comes in cycles and it’s wonderful to see the next generation really appreciate the beauty of this 60s and 70s-inspired style.”

Groovy Santana is a hardwearing porcelain tile that won’t absorb any stains, making it perfect for bathrooms and other high-traffic areas of the home. Such is the vibrancy of the colour and pattern, whether it’s used as a small splashback or across an entire floor, it will anchor any interiors scheme.

Tiles aren’t the only way to add some retro back into your home. Funky prints, curtains and soft furnishings, as well as retro appliances, furniture, accessories and wallpaper can really make this trend pop.

A fun retro floral wallpaper is great for brightening up a space while keeping things homely and comforting. As retro makes a comeback, retro wallpaper designs achieve a contemporary look that would work well in a cottage or farmhouse inspired scheme.

To add retro touches to your kitchen, consider investing in retro appliances such as a popcorn maker or candyfloss machine, which will add some novelty to your space and bring joy to your whole family.

Fun accessories such as bowls, vases or rugs, dotted around your home will enhance a retro scheme without being overwhelming, yet will also pair well with larger retro pieces for a more maximalist theme.

Lesley said: “I am thrilled to see retro interiors make a comeback. They are incredibly versatile and with some clever styling, they can really take you back to a different era.”

Groovy Santana is available now priced at £66.44 per m2. It is available from bakedtiles.co.uk
