GRIMSBY Town may be hitting the road in tip-top form – but Crewe Alexandra pose a unique challenge on their own patch. That’s the message from Michael Jolley as the boss prepares to take his side to Gresty Road this afternoon (3pm), looking for a fourth win in five League Two matches. Crewe have only been beaten once in Cheshire so far this season, with 11 goals scored and just two conceded to show for their efforts at home.

Jolley told the Telegraph: “I’m expecting a really, really tough game.

“We are going to have to do well to take anything from them. Crewe are always a good footballing side, a possession-based team. “They’ve got talented attacking players, and some good midfield players that like to come pick up the ball and get turned.

“And with the strike-force they’ve got, they pose a threat down the middle as well. “They played Yeovil on Tuesday night. I thought they deserved to win, and should have probably won that game, and in the previous game they won at Stevenage. “So they come into this game in really good form. We know that we’re going to have to play really well to get anything from it.” Wes Thomas settled the scores on Tuesday night as Town made it three wins from four, with their unbeaten run continuing against high-flying Colchester United.

Jolley added: “I think the main habits are what goes on between Monday and Friday at the training ground, with the way we prepare, the way we train and the way we work. “We have been consistent with that all the way through. It just so happens that they are yielding more positive results, right at this moment.

“We need to repeat and remain consistent, and try work towards getting as many points as we can.”
