GRIMSBY TOWN BOSS WANTS REPEAT DOSE

SPEAKING to the media at Cheapside, Grimsby Town manager Michael Jolley rounds-up the talking points ahead of today’s League Two clash (3pm).

ON INJURIES

It’s unchanged really. The game will come too soon for the two Harrys – Davis and Cardwell – but we have got no real major new injuries.

We got a few bumps and bruises on Tuesday night, but essentially everyone else is available.

ON THE UNBEATEN RUN

We’ve been fairly calm all the way through the season in that we know what we want to do, and we haven’t changed too much. But, clearly, when you get good results that gives everyone a boost in terms of their energy and mood. We’ve got to try get more of that as much as we can.

We take nothing for granted and we’ve got three away games coming up. We’re going to have work even harder to try and continue that run.

ON HIS CENTRE-BACKS

I’ve been impressed with them. Danny (Collins) in particular has had to play with this cast on his arm – at 38 he brings experience and a good level of performance to our team.

And he is certainly helping Alex (Whitmore) to improve. Alex is still quite a young player at 23, but if he can learn as much as possible from Danny, that will stand him in good stead.

ON HIS TEAM

We’ve been organised in terms of how we want to work without the ball.

When the other team have had the ball, we’ve been organised and we’ve known what our jobs are. We’ve done that well. And I think we’ve created chances in all the games.

We would still like to take more of the chances that we do create, but we’ve posed a threat when we’ve had the ball, and some of our attacking play has been good.

ON THE WEEKEND

The most important thing for us is to get a result, but that only comes by delivering a good performance.

We’re not going to go to Crewe, play poorly and get a result. If we can control our performance and focus on doing that, then we give ourselves a chance of getting either one or three points from the game.

ON HIS TIME AT CREWE

I’ve got a lot of respect for Crewe and I enjoyed the brief time that I spent there. There are some good people there. I know David Artell well and Kenny (Lunt), the assistant manager. It will be good to see them after the game.

Crewe are a good football club and they play good football.

All the different clubs you work at contribute towards your own experience. I’ve tried to take as much as I can from every situation and every club I’ve worked with.
