DAME JOAN COLLINS has become one of the latest celebrities to get the Covid-19 vaccination. The 87-year-old actress, left, announced on Instagram that she had received the Oxford University/ AstraZeneca jab at London’s Bloomsbury Surgery. She described the procedure as both “painless and seamless”.

Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh received their Covid-19 vaccinations from a household doctor at Windsor Castle. buckingham Palace rarely comments on the private health matters of the 94-yearold monarch and the 99-yearold duke but it is understood the Queen decided the information should be made public to prevent inaccuracies and further speculation.

VETERAN entertainer Lionel Blair had his first Covid vaccination on his 92nd birthday in December and called it “the best birthday present I could have”. He has just had his second jab and told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: “I want to thank the scientists for getting this together. It’s wonderful, what they’ve done.”

sir Tom Jones revealed on Jools Holland’s annual Hootenanny broadcast on new year’s Eve that he has had the coronavirus vaccine. He told Jools: “that’s one good thing about being 80, you’re first in line for the jab. it was fine, it was like getting the flu jab.”

The Great British Bake off judge Prue leith, aged 80, shared a photo of herself wearing a mask while a medic administered the vaccine. “Who wouldn’t want immunity from #Covid19 with a painless jab??” she tweeted.

SIR Ian McKellen was vaccinated at Queen Mary’s University Hospital in London, saying after that “it’s a very special day. I feel euphoric”. The 81-year-old Lord of the Rings star said all elderly people should ensure they get the jab, adding it was “painless”.

American president-elect Joe biden appeared on live television when he received a dose of the vaccine in December. future us vice-president kamala Harris got her shot a few days later and tweeted “this is about saving lives.”

ROCK and roll star Marty Wilde, below, famed for a string of hits in the 50s and 60s, was given the jab at Lister Hospital in Stevenage. The 81-year-old said getting vaccinated was “common sense”. He added: “The whole thing is just the right thing to do. You need an injection.” Marty was also treated at Lister
Hospital during the first lockdown after collapsing at his Hertfordshire home with an irregular heartbeat.

Glastonbury festival founder Michael Eavis, inset, aged 85, got his vaccination at a GP-led community vaccination site in n shepton Mallet on new year’s Eve. He said his festival, which was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19, might return in 2021 if enough of the population was vaccinated.

DAME EDNA EVERAGE performer, Barry Humphries, received his first dose of the vaccine in London. The 86-year-old Australian joked that he did not think he was old enough to qualify for the jab.
