KATE HUMBLE’S COASTAL WALKS

Channel 5, 8pm

-

THE former Springwatch presenter is always good company, so this new six-part scenic series is a promising one.

Kate will be walking some of the most beautiful coastal paths in the country in areas such as Suffolk, Dorset and Yorkshire, where she’ll even brave a dip in the North Sea. For tonight’s episode Kate is on the South West Coast Path: the longest waymarked footpath in England, 630 miles long, and generally regarded as one of the most beautiful paths in the world.

Kate won’t obviously be walking quite that far, but she does take in many of the local sights around the Exmoor area, including a visit to the valley that inspired Lorna Doone, a ride on the world’s highest and steepest water powered railway at Lynmouth, exploring a tiny parish church with a dark past at Porlock Weir and checking out the incredible natural rock formations along the heritage coast.
