A MAN is in hospital with serious injuries following a reported assault in Cleethorpe­s.

A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following the incident on William Street, Cleethorpe­s. The incident happened in the early hours of Friday, February 26, with police cordons set up on both William Street and Mill Road.

A man sustained serious injuries to his legs and has been taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he remains at this time.

A significan­t amount of blood was found at the scene on William Street, both on the pavement and on one of the doors within the police cordon. Two scene guards were in place while officers conducted enquiries, with an increased police presence in the area to support and reassure the community at this time. A spokespers­on for Humberside Police said: “A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, following a reported assault on William Street, Cleethorpe­s in the early hours of this morning, Friday 26 February. “He remains in our custody at this time whilst we continue our investigat­ion.

“A man sustained serious injuries to his legs and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains. “Two scene guards remain in place whilst officers conduct enquiries and there is an increased police presence in the area to offer reassuranc­e to the community and listen to any concerns.”
