DO TOWN FANS THINK IT’S ALL OVER?
MARKS OUT OF TEN FOR MARINERS IN THEIR DRAW AGAINST HIGH-FLYING CHELTENHAM
GRIMSBY Town’s clash with title-chasing Cheltenham ended in yet another draw for the Mariners as they remain bottom of League Two.
Will Boyle’s first half header saw the Robins claim a 1-1 draw after Lenell John-Lewis opened the scoring for the hosts, following some good work from Stefan Payne.
Both sides had their chances to win it, with the visitors hitting the woodwork on a couple of occasions, while James Hanson spurned a great opportunity as he struck the side netting in the second half.
James Findlater shares his player ratings from Blundell Park...
James McKeown: Having had a quiet time of it in recent games, the long-serving stopper found himself in the thick of the action. Made some big saves to keep Cheltenham at bay 8/10 (STAR MAN)
Luke Hendrie: Didn’t have the best time of it on the right. A lot of his attempts to find team-mates went astray, and he found himself caught on the ball a couple of time 5/10
Elliott Hewitt: Pushed a little further out as Town went to three at the back, but that didn’t faze him. His future could well lie in that position now 7/10
Luke Waterfall: Back in the side, and for the most part did a decent job at the centre of the defensive three. Stuck his head and his foot in where it hurt for his side 7/10
Rollin Menayese: Another composed display from the Mansfield loanee. Nothing really seems to get him flustered, even against Cheltenham’s huge attack 7/10
Sam Habergham: Good to see him back in the starting line-up, and he even popped up in a couple of good positions to have a go at goal 6/10
Harry Clifton: Worked tirelessly in the middle and did his bit to help out his defence, even managing to win his fair share of headers against his huge opponents 6/10
Jay Matete: Really seemed to be tiring as the game wore on, perhaps feeling the effects of his injury just over a week ago. Managed to find a little bit left in the tank late on though 6/10
Stefan Payne: Did really well to out-muscle a couple of Cheltenham defenders and serve the ball on a plate for John-Lewis. Other than that though, he didn’t really offer enough 5/10
James Hanson: That chance in the second half will be replaying in his and Town fans’ minds for a while. Worked hard, but he’s got to make the most of those opportunities 5/10 Lenell John-Lewis: Another goal to make him Town’s top scorer this season. The games in quick succession perhaps had an effect as his influence waned 6/10
From the bench
Giles Coke (John-Lewis 79): Came on and allowed Matete and Clifton to venture forward a bit more.
Matt Green (Payne 85): Should have done better with that chance right at the death.
