A MINI driver has ploughed into four parked cars on a quiet residential Cleethorpes street causing extensive damage to three vehicles and leaving residents with a strange sense of Deja Vu.

At just before 7pm on Wednesday the driver of the Mini lost control of their car on Barcroft Street just after the junction with Brereton Avenue.

The grey Mini struck three vehicles before it came to a halt and jolted one of the parked vehicles into the back of another meaning four other cars were damaged in the incident.

Strangely the same stretch of road was the scene of another multiple-vehicle incident in 2018 when a police car in a pursuit lost control and ended up colliding with at least four parked cars.

A neighbour said: “We were just in the front and we heard a massive bang, we didn’t see anything but when we came out it was pretty obvious what had happened.

“This isn’t the first time that we’ve had something like that happen on this bit of road, in 2018 there was a big smash and that one was a police car.

“I’m just glad I couldn’t get in my parking space today, we all know each other around here and I’d called about getting my car in but I had to park a bit further away than normal this time.

“If I hadn’t done that my car would have been right where they went into everyone. I feel a bit lucky to be honest.”

The family of the Nissan owner, which was one of two cars that seemed to have taken the brunt of the impact, were out inspecting the damage when the Grimsby Telegraph arrived at the scene.

The Mini was moved out of the road and wasn’t at the scene, part of its front bumper was still wedged into the wheel arch of the maroon Nissan.

A red Ford had a long scrape down the passenger side and was missing a wing mirror and a silver Mercedes in front of the Ford had a completely buckled and deflated tire on the driver’s side.

Pictures of the Mini when it was still at the scene show extensive damage to the front of the car. Police were performing door-to-door enquiries asking for witnesses that might have seen the impact itself, one of the car owners was working at the local shop and was distraught to find that her vehicle had been hit.

Another resident said: “I didn’t see anything but it is pretty obvious what’s gone on, we’ve come out and [the driver] has smashed into everyone that has parked here and we know why they lost control. “[The driver] has hit the fist two then gone into the back of another and jumped that into a car further down. It was a right loud bang and we all just came running out to see what had happened.

“The police were here quick they’ve moved the Mini out the road because it was blocking everything up.”

Back in 2018 a Humberside Police car had been following a black Hyundai Coupe along Barcroft Street when it collided with a silver Hyundai i30 at the same junction with Brereton Avenue.

The resulting collision led the police car to spin out of control along the street in the direction of Grimsby Road, where it hit a number of parked cars causing them extensive damage.

The driver of the silver Hyundai suffered injuries in the collision and has been taken to hospital for further treatment. Two police officers also sustained minor injuries in the collision.
