West Marsh has highest Covid rate in area

ONLY five areas now have a “blue” Covid rate across North and North East Lincolnshi­re. They include West Marsh, Littlefiel­d North, Barton Upon Humber, Scunthorpe North and Scunthorpe Central and Crosby. Out of the list, West Marsh has the highest rate sitting at between 200-399 cases per 100,000 people.

The other four sit in the band below that, 100-199 cases per 100,000.

Nationally, there has been a decline in cases with less than 2,000 confirmed cases yesterday. Statistics show there to be 1,882 cases nationally, a weekly total of 17,887. There were a further 10 deaths on Sunday across the country, bringing the overall total to 127,270.

In our area, there have been no new coronaviru­s-related deaths this weekend meaning the Trust’s death toll remains at 450.

Looking specifical­ly at North East Lincolnshi­re, there has been a steady decline in the number of cases, with four reported yesterday, putting the week’s total at 50, down 13 from the week previous.

In North Lincolnshi­re, daily cases are slightly higher at 14 with a weekly total of 92. This means North Lincolnshi­re has a fifth less coronaviru­s cases this week than they did last .

In terms of vaccinatio­ns, 32,849,223 people in the UK have had their first dose and 9,930,846 have had their second.
