Kate Winslet stars as a small-town cop faced with a murder case just as her life is falling to pieces

-

OSCAR winner Kate Winslet executive produces and stars in this seven-part crime thriller, her first appearance on a TV drama in ten years. She plays small-town Pennsylvania detective Mare Sheehan, who is investigating a local murder at a time when her own life is crumbling around her.

A troubled cop is nothing new, but Winslet sparkles on screen as we gradually find out what is going on in her life. Sheehan is still considered something of a hero in the town for winning a basketball championship at high school decades earlier.

But there’s an unsolved missing girl case hanging over her career, as well as all the bad relationships in her life. She’s stricken with grief following her son’s suicide, has a strained relationship with her teenage daughter and her ex is getting remarried.

Then a dead body is found in the local creek, rocking the tight-knit community and putting Mare at the heart of a new tragedy.

Mare’s pain leads her to develop an obsession with various cases of missing and murdered girls in Easttown. With everyone fully aware of her situation and the rumours swirling around her, how will this affect her dogged pursuit of the killer?

As well as Winslet, the star-studded cast includes Guy Pearce, Jean Smart, Evan Peters and Angourie Rice.

It’s all very bleak and miserable, but an acting masterclass from Winslet makes this a compelling crime drama not to be missed.
