More cesspit than playground

-

ON a sunny afternoon I visited New Waltham playground with my youngest grandson.

I was appalled by the disgusting state the playing field and play area were in. Litter covered the football pitch and I was surrounded by older children throwing eggs at each other, leaving egg cartons and splattered eggs everywhere.

The word “cesspit” sprang to mind rather than playground. Is this the behaviour we expect from children these days?

Having visited many countries in Europe and Scandinavia I feel the UK’s standards are so low we have no trouble achieving them. Stephen Clyburn,

New Waltham.
