‘People who can’t be careful shouldn’t be driving’

Visitors to our Facebook page have had their say on our story about the nuisance bikers causing misery in Grimsby and Cleethorpes.

■ Sarah Airey: It’s not just the motorcross riders, it’s the mopeds, too, like the one who tried to overtake me as I was turning a corner. They came out of nowhere and hit my front end, then got up and drove away without giving me chance to get any details.

The incident scared my five-yearold daughter who was in the car with me as we saw him slide across the road. I did the right thing and tried to see if he was OK. It’s the legal road drivers that suffer the shock of any incidents caused by the ones who are reckless and uninsured.

■ Al Lui: Sort out the weak legal system. Instead of slapping their wrists do something about them.

■ John Oliver: Stop the sale of petrol at garages into containers.

■ Gordon Miller: If we had done this in the 1960s we would have been sent to a borstal. That would sort the brain dead idiots out.

■ Jon Boniface: Nothing new, been going on for years.

■ Paul Taylor: They are not bikers. Do not associate this uninsured, untaxed, unlicensed and no MOT menace with bikers.

■ Anna Thompson: It’s not just bikes, cars are as bad. My daughter and two grandchildren were nearly knocked over recently by a driver at the crossing near Brocklesby Road. The speeding car just missed them, they were all shaken up. People who can’t be careful shouldn’t be driving.

■ Chris Harrison: Give them somewhere to ride. Mablethorpe has the right idea (beach races).

■ Chris Harrison: There was a nice little track in Immingham but it was closed down.

■ Dean Wright: Catch them and crush their bikes. And post it online. ■ Vicki Tory Harper: This has been happening since I was a teen. Give them somewhere to go. Set up tracks for them and don’t charge the earth for them to go. Plenty of derelict land available.

It’s a hobby for a lot of people but with nowhere to go and do it what choice do they have?

Yes, I don’t agree on pavements and busy times, but if you are not prepared to give them all somewhere to go then things like this could happen.
