A LOOK AT SUNDAY’S OSCARS HOPEFULS

-

AHEAD of Sunday’s Academy Awards, we thought we would look back at some epic fashion moments from years gone by, from the women in the running for this year’s Best Actress Oscar.

First up is Andra Day, nominated for her performance as the jazz singer in The United States vs. Billie Holiday. This is the 36-year-old actress’s first Oscar nod but she looked incredible in Chanel for the ‘virtual’ red carpet at the Golden Globes earlier this year.

Frances McDormand is the front runner to take home the little gold man on the night, for her turn in Nomadland. If she does, it will be the 63-year-old’s third Oscar. Last time she won she wore couture Valentino and a make-up-free face.

Viola Davis, 55, nominated for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, is up for her second Oscar, having won in 2017 for Fences, when she wore a stunning scarlet Armani Prive design.

Nominated for Pieces of Woman, it will be Vanessa Kirby’s first Oscars but the 33-year-old dazzled in Dior at the Baftas in 2018 when she won for her work on The Crown.

Rounding out our hopefuls is Carey Mulligan who is in the running for her role in Promising Young Woman. Carey, 35, was last up for an Oscar in 2010 when she wore this strapless Prada gown covered in miniature kitchen utensils.

Good luck ladies!
