What if you listened to these?
This week’s trio of podcasts features celebrities’ Sliding Doors moments, traditional tales for kids and a look at the relationship between writer Christopher Isherwood and painter Don Bachardy
WHAT IF? WITH LORRAINE AND ROSIE
TV presenting legend Lorraine Kelly is joined by her daughter Rosie Smith in a new podcast that probes the moments when life might have taken a different path. Two episodes into the series and they have already heard all about Gok Wan’s struggles with anorexia and his fear of coming out to his parents just in case they reacted badly.
In actual fact, they were wonderful about it – his dad rose from the dinner table and silently built a bed from sofa cushions for Gok and his boyfriend to sleep on.
The make-over expert can’t bring himself to imagine an alternative when Lorraine gently asks ‘What if they’d been different?’, which isn’t really in the spirit of the premise but you can’t really blame him. Lorraine and Rosie seem to have a warm relationship and their dynamic adds to the atmosphere rather than acts as a distraction.

SUPER GREAT KIDS STORIES
These 10-20 minute stories are perfect for relaxing the kids before bedtime – or for distracting them in the car.
Each one is based on a folk tale from across the globe, such as the trickster Anansi the Spider from West Africa and a mysterious moon rabbit from Tibet. There’s a reason these yarns have stuck around for so long, passed down through generations by word of mouth. And the upbeat versions presented by Super Great Kids Stories means modern-day children will also enjoy that link to the past.
WHERE TO START: The Owl Girls and the Witch, a tale of two friends who transform into birds to steal oranges. Listen on your favourite podcast app
