Meggies looking for instant response on home territory

-

CLEETHORPES Cricket Club are back in action tomorrow with a Championship Division game in the South Yorkshire Premier Cricket League.

Making a first appearance at Chichester Road will be Sheffield-area side Oughtibridge War Memorial Cricket Club.

Following their loss at Barnsley, the Meggies will be looking to re-establish themselves after their disappointing batting display.

Tom Rollinson took the opportunity of spending some time at the crease the following day and hit a century for the East Lindsey League side.

His team-mates will be looking to follow his example and make runs on hopefully, a typically true Chichester Road wicket. Oughtibridge lost their opening two fixtures before tasting success last Saturday when they chased down a target of 201 set by Conisbrough, winning by six wickets.

Their attack revolves around the talents of Zeeshan Karamat.

The former Sheffield United and Aston Hall bowler has already returned two five-wicket hauls and has 14 in total.

Hamzah Ilyas, a former Whitley Hall and Wickersley batsman, was instrumental in last week’s success. He hit a personal best 91 not out and could prove a danger to the Meggies hopes.

The return of Harry Costello is the only change to the Meggies line-up for tomorrow’s clash.

Last month, Costello bowled the opening over of the new season before having to be withdrawn due to a back injury. He reclaims his place, after missing two games, at the expense of Jack Holmes who returns to the Lincs League side.
