JASON Stockwood and Andrew Pettit have now officially completed their takeover of Grimsby Town - and there have been some immediate changes at the club.

The pair, together in their 1878 Partners company, were confirmed as the club’s new owners at Blundell Park, and will be getting down to work ahead of a busy summer for the Mariners as the club prepares for life back in non-league.

Stockwood and Pettit will now take their place on the club’s board, and there more changes made in the boardroom, as well as the arrival of a new football consultant. Here’s a run-through of the new set-up at Blundell Park...

The new owners’ roles

Stockwood replaces Philip Day as chairman of the club, and will take on the role on an initial three-year basis.

Pettit, meanwhile, joins the club’s board as vice-chairman.

New appointment

Joining the board will be Mariners Trust chair Kristine Green, who stepped up to the role earlier this year.

Along with Dave Roberts, it means the Trust will continue to have two representatives on the board.

Staying on

Having now stepped down as chairman, Philip Day will stay on the board in order to “ensure a smooth transitition” to the new owners.

Leaving the board

Having sold his shares to 1878 Partners, John Fenty has now resigned as a director and leaves the board after over 20 years. Also leaving the board is former Mariners Trust representative Jon Wood - the new owners thanked both men for their service to the club upon having their takeover

completed.

Palmer’s involvement

As well as changes to the club’s board, the new owners also announced that Mark Palmer would be assisting them in the assessment of and options for the football operations.

Palmer has aided the consortium through the takeover process in his role as managing director of Insight 63, a UK-based advisory firm working in football.

He has previously worked on the takeovers of Yeovil Town and Wycombe Wanderers, and has aided clubs in finding investment, buyers and alternative revenue streams.

“He helped us with the due diligence as a football man with a lot of experience in navigating through the whole EFL process,” Pettit explained.

“He’s going to help us with the transition going forward. There’s no particular fixed time on his agenda.”
