THE five most popular takeaways being ordered through Grimsby’s Deliveroo have been revealed. Deliveroo, an on-demand food delivery app service, launched in Grimsby just under two months ago.

It has proved popular with people living in Grimsby and Cleethorpes during lockdown - and is expected to maintain this popularity after the country returns to its new normal.

New data revealed that Saturday at 8.19pm is the most popular time for customers to order from Deliveroo, with American food, followed by Middle Eastern and British as the most popular options so far. Deliveroo has broken this down further to discover what takeaways in Grimsby and Cleethorpes have proven to be the go-to favourites since its launch.

Most popular dishes ordered during the first few months on Grimsby’s Deliveroo:

1. Boneless Banquet from KFC 2. Doner Kebab from Kebab House 3. Large Battered Haddock from Chips & Fish

4. Steakhouse Angus Burger from Burger King

5. Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich from Goodburger

In cities and towns across the country, Deliveroo is working closely with local restaurants to reach new customers.

In Grimsby, 60 per cent of the restaurants available are local independents, helping to create new revenue streams for homegrown culinary talent. A Deliveroo spokesperson said: “Deliveroo is focused on providing the ultimate food delivery experience and flexibility, as customers have the option to schedule orders via the Deliveroo app up to one day in advance or receive food as soon as possible between noon and 11pm, and from noon on the weekends, from a variety of leading local, independent and best-loved chain restaurants, conveniently delivered to their homes and offices.

“The food delivery company will continue to add new local restaurants, takeaways and convenience stores to the platform over the coming months, with the likes of Costa Coffee joining Deliveroo as lockdown eases. If any restaurants or grocers in Grimsby are wanting to join Deliveroo, they can apply here to become a partner.” The spokesperson added: “The launch of Deliveroo in Grimsby has also helped to create new opportunities for locals, with the food-delivery platform looking to add more riders in Grimsby to keep up with customer demand.

“Being a Deliveroo rider is a great opportunity for those who have other commitments, such as existing work or students looking for flexible work to fit around study.

“Many riders working with Deliveroo find it empowers them to keep fit while earning at the same time.

“If anyone in Grimsby is interested in applying to be a rider, they can find more information and sign up on Deliveroo’s rider website.”
