Should NHS workers be sacked for not getting the Covid vaccine?

HERE’S WHAT YOU SAID ...

THE people of Grimsby have had their say on whether they think NHS workers should be sacked for refusing to have the Covid vaccine.

Your Grimsby Telegraph asked the question - ‘Should frontline NHS workers who don’t have the Covid vaccine be sacked?’

We had a huge response to the survey with a total of 632 responses.

There were three categories readers could select - ‘yes’, ‘no’ and ‘not sure’.

And 314 of the votes - which is just below 50 per cent of the vote - believe that frontline workers should be sacked for not having a Covid vaccine

Whereas, 296 of voters - which is 47 per cent of the vote - believe that NHS workers shouldn’t be sacked for not having a vaccine.

Only 22 voters said they were unsure, which carries 3 per cent of the total survey.

So what does this tell us?

Well, this suggests that the people of Grimsby would prefer to see frontline NHS workers sacked for not having a vaccine.

The government data website, gov. uk, shows that 103 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on Friday November 19, 2021 in north east Lincolnshire.

Additionally, the government data provider suggests that between November 13 2021 and November 19 2021, 805 people had a confirmed positive test result.

This shows an increase of 17.7 per cent compared to the previous seven days.

There is no doubting that the virus is still here and is not stopping anytime soon.

But those who disagree that NHS workers should be sacked for not having a vaccine may show solidarity with campaigners who feel they shouldn’t be forced to have it.

There have been demonstrations held at the entrance of Grimsby’s Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital to oppose mandatory vaccinations.

Campaigners held various placards on Thursday November 18, which stated ‘Clapping to Sacking’ and ‘Last Years Heroes to Next Years Unemployed?’

It was once a tradition to stand outside the front door every Thursday and clap for NHS workers during the most gruelling months of the pandemic.

So is there long and strenuous sacrifice being forgotten about when we needed them the most?

Or should NHS workers ensure the safety of others, and themselves, by receiving a vaccine and help to reduce the rates of cases from spreading.

Our survey suggests you believe it should be the latter.
