Frontman craving first team minutes
BELL READY TO GO AFTER MAKING LOAN TRANSFER
SAM Bell is relishing the prospect of first-team minutes at Grimsby Town and earmarked the supporters as a key reason he wanted to join.
The 19-year-old has penned a short-term loan with the Mariners until January, arriving from Bristol City.
Bell is well acquainted with Ryley Towler, a fellow Robins loanee at Blundell Park, and spoke to him for guidance about the move.
Bell could make his Town debut tonight against Solihull Moors and he is relishing the opportunity to play in front of the fans.
“I’m delighted to be here, it all happened pretty fast, to be honest,” Bell told the Grimsby Telegraph.
“I got told on Sunday morning, I drove up on Sunday night and then I’ve trained on Monday morning.
“I really enjoyed my first day and I’m looking forward to scoring some goals and getting the club back to where it should be.
“There was a good intensity (in training), the lads have been very good to me. Training with them shows the quality in the group.
“I had a few chats with Ryley Towler and he was very complimentary about the club, the players, the fans, he said they’re very good!
“I’m looking forward to playing in front of them. It’ll be very good to play in front of them.”
In the eyes of Paul Hurst, Bell will offer Town greater flexibility in the final third. The striker can play as a number ten, out wide or as an outand-out centre-forward.
“I’m a striker that likes to run in behind and work hard for the team,” Bell said when asked what type of player he is.
“I can play off both feet, link play and I can play out wide too. I like to run around!
“I back my ability and I think I can add some goals to the team. I wanted to get out and get some games, to show what I can do.
“It’ll be good to get some games at a competitive level rather than for the Under-23s, I’m very excited.”
