So many want Labour until it comes to voting

Visitors to our Facebook page have had their say on our story about Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer visiting town and going on to say that Lia Nici has had ‘no real impact’ and been ‘ineffective’ for Grimsby during her time as MP:

-

■ Kevin Gospel: So many want Labour until it comes to voting then it’s Conservatives that have nearly always won, only winning when they had a Labour Prime Minister that was nearly a Tory.

■ Joyce Timm: Certainly got it right with Lia doing nothing for Grimsby.

■ Julie M Bryan: He’s not wrong. The only time Lia has been seen was when she was with Boris.

■ William Steadman: Melanie Onn sunk herself trying to fight for remain in a leave constituency and then trying to tell the constituents they were wrong. She herself said she felt let down by the level of support the Labour Party gave her. Politicians say what they think people want to hear, then come up with reasons why they can’t do what they said they could do. Then they normally dump the blame on their predecessors.

■ Charlie Cibor: At the end of the day, Melanie Onn was right. All round Tory failures on Brexit and other things, as we all know. In my opinion Lia has sunk the sinking ship.

■ Mark Connor: I’ve got a mortgage free house in Scartho and I love Boris Johnson. Lia Nici is the best thing to ever happen to Grimsby.

■ Pammy Giddings: I’m not biased to any political party in all honesty, and I’m finding Keir Starmer is always ripping into Tories instead of promoting the Labour Party.

■ Laura Varley: If some people think going back to Labour after four years, two during a pandemic, will make the town any better then they are deluded.

■ Ivan Ardon: Do we just keep letting it get worse under the Tories then?

■ Laura Varley: We gave Labour 75 years, then some people expect four years of Tories in the town, two in a pandemic, to sort anything.

■ Matthew Abbott: Blind leading the blind.

■ Pauline Thompson: And of course Keir Starmer is oh so effective. What a joke.

■ Roger Fenton: And don’t forget it was Blair and Brown who gave our gold reserves to Germany.

■ Julie Gard: In my opinion, she’s absolutely useless.
