- LIGHTS, GLAMOUR ACTION...

WHILE most people’s eyes have been on the Aussie jungle this week (I want to look, but I don’t want to look, but I can’t not look, sums up my feeling about Matt Hancock being there), away from the snakes and spiders, it has been a fab week for fashion fans.

And if you are in need of party season dress inspiration, we have had it in spades.

Monday saw one of the biggest events in the fashion industry calendar as A-listers gathered in New York for the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awards. As the name suggests, it is a backslapping shindig for US designers.

Naturally, the Kardashian clan was in attendance. Khloe, Kim, Kendall, Kylie and Kris all hit the red carpet.

Kim, 42, even picked up a gong, the Amazon Innovation award for her wildly successful

Skims shapewear empire and looked incredible in a strapless latex gown by Dolce & Gabbana.

I reckon I could knock up something similar with a few rolls of that coloured cellophane we used to have in art lessons at primary school.

Also making an impression at the CFDA awards was Christina Ricci, 42. The Addams Family star looked chic in a beautiful floral design from Rodarte which featured 3D flowers at the collar.

After walking the runway for Balmain a couple of months back, Cher, 76, was once again pulling focus in New York. Firmly consigning the concept of age-appropriate dressing to the bin, the music and film icon, who this week introduced the world to her new 36-year-old beau with the quip ‘Love doesn’t know math!’, donned a leather biker jacket dress from Chrome Hearts. That’s #septuagenariangoals right there.

By midweek the spotlight was back on the UK as a host of British stars got their gladrags on for the

Glamour magazine’s annual Women of the Year Awards in London.

There it was all about the little black dress.

Singer Rita Ora – who picked up the entertainer of the year award looked stunning in a sheer black dress by Jaquemus that put me in mind of a young Kate Moss in her Nineties party years. Am I too old for a see-through dress? I should probably run that one past Cher.

On the subject of daring frocks, Rochelle Humes, 33, looked breathtaking in a plunging black gown by A-list favourite Monot. Whoever is styling the singerturned-presenter deserves a raise.

The big draw at the Glamour awards,

though, was Kim Cattrall. There to be honoured with the magazine’s Screen Icon award, the Sex and the City star, 66, looked

fabulous in a strapless black mini number. Taking to the stage, the Liverpool-born star said: “I have been an actor, working in film, television and theatre for over 50 years. I’ve played senators, queens, presidents, trailer park mums, and vampires. I started as a young ingenue, now I’m the senior actor on the set… But I can still rock this dress.”

Samantha Jones could not have put it better.
