Grimsby pride on the packaging as new range launches

-

REGAL Fish’s acquisition comes as it launched new products and a packaging range ahead of the Chrstmas rush - with provenance at the fore.

The new branding will carry the Made Great in Grimsby logo, the consumer-facing element of an initiative launched by the cluster to underline the importance and value added expertise honed in the town.

Margaret Money, purchasing and supply manager at Regal, said: “We fillet and prepare fresh fish each morning in our Grimsby factory and deliver nationwide in our fleet of vehicles, direct to the homes of our 70,000 customers each day.

“Existing customers of ours will know that we are proud of our Grimsby heritage. You can see many of our Grimsby stories in our brochure or on our social media. We honestly believe that Grimsby is ‘great’ and we make it our business to ensure that the nation has easy access to many Grimsby processed fresh fish produce.”

Much of the range includes butters and marinades, with strong third party relationships for further products. Margaret said that where possible the fish is sourced locally and one favourite is the geographical indicator Traditionally Smoked Grimsby Haddock supplied by Ian Button of MTL.

Alongside the fresh fish, Regal also sells a range of handmade gourmet products, coated fillets, bakes and pies, including seafood wellingtons, a five-flavour range supplied by Grimsby’s Chapmans Seafoods. More than 40 of these products fall under the ‘Made Great in Grimsby’ range.

Initiative director, Simon Dwyer - secretariat of the Grimsby Fish Merchants’ Association, said: “The Made Great In Grimsby initiative allows members to take advantage of the trademarked logo use. We’re delighted with this collaboration with Regal and many other fish businesses in Grimsby that use our brand. It is important to us that more people eat more fish from Grimsby, more often.”
