A NEW McDonald’s has opened its doors in Louth as the eco-friendly building brings 120 new jobs to the area.

The restaurant, on Lincoln Way, has been in the pipeline since 2020 and has now officially opened to the public and residents of the quaint Lincolnshire town.

The building will be open 24/7, equipped with takeaway, drive-thru and click and serve facilities.

In the future, they will be looking to add a delivery service to the franchise too.

The new restaurant has created 120 full and part-time jobs and is only the second restaurant to be built to a net carbon zero standard.

The Louth McDonald’s will also have table service and modern self-serving screens that have become commonplace in fast food restaurants.

Outside seating will be available too with a kids’ play area to keep the little ones entertained after their Happy Meal.

According to McDonald’s, consumers are looking for faster service for convenience, one of the main reasons for modern technology being brought in. Throughout 2022, the brand has upgraded 200 restaurants with a further 800 planned over the next four years.

The innovative and eco-friendly approach used in Louth was first trialed in Market Drayton, Staffordshire, with the company looking to achieve net zero emissions by 2030 in its restaurants and offices.

Some of the features helping to achieve this include solar panels, recycled building materials and air windows to help retain heat in the building.

Franchisee James Thompson who

operates five restaurants in Lincoln, Skegness and now Louth, said: “We are delighted to be opening another brand-new McDonald’s restaurant in Lincolnshire and can’t wait to see local Louth customers enjoy our services on offer.

“People are at the heart of our business, and we look forward to welcoming new employees with the jobs our restaurant will create.

“I am also excited to see Louth become one of McDonald’s first restaurants working towards its target of achieving net zero emissions across all its restaurants and offices by 2030.”
