Woman seriously injured after assault in Grimsby town centre
A WOMAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries to her face after being assaulted by another woman following an altercation in Grimsby town centre.
Officers were called to West St Mary’s Gate in Grimsby at around 3.55am on Saturday, November 19 with reports of an assault. The area was subsequently cordoned off as police and Crime Scene Investigation officers investigated the incident.
According to an eyewitness at the scene, a “pool of blood” and a broken bottle could be seen on the pathway outside the Virgin Money bank, on the corner of Bethlehem Street and West St Mary’s Gate, where a huge cordon was in place.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Officers are investigating reports of an assault after being called to West St Mary’s Gate, Grimsby, at around 03.55am today (Saturday 19 November).
“It was reported that a woman assaulted another woman following an altercation in the street. One woman was taken to hospital for treatment on serious injuries to her face.
