HOW THE MARINERS RATED

-

MAX CROCOMBE: Made one run-of-themill save in the first period but was relatively untested for the first 45. Stevenage’s goal was placed well off the post so not much he could do. 6 MICHEE EFETE: Frustrations with his forward play continued to be heard in the crowd in some instances at the start of the game, but he defended his side of the pitch well enough. 6

LUKE WATERFALL: Kept it tight at the back for the most part before the break and looked strong in the air as he usually does when defending set-pieces. 7 ANDY SMITH: Alert defensively to step out and intercept balls into the Stevenage attackers’ feet which is a real strength of his game, as evidenced by his interception stats. 6 NIALL MAHER: Almost made a costly error in the first half, with a poor pass out from the back which was intercepted and produced shots on goal for Stevenage, but he did well to recover in the end. Came up with the crucial equaliser in injury time. 7

DANNY AMOS: Had one of Town’s better opportunities in the first period when the ball fell to him from a poor clearance from the Stevenage goalkeeper. 8

BRYN MORRIS: High-energy performance in the middle of the park which was required with the limited numbers Town had in the middle of the park. 7

KIERAN GREEN: Did the dirty work as usual for the Mariners and covered a lot of ground alongside Morris in the centre of midfield. 7

HARRY CLIFTON: Work-rate superb as usual and did well to win the penalty kick in the first half, but the quality and anticipation were not always there on the ball. 6

OTIS KHAN: Not his best outing in the sense he was not majorly involved in a game that lacked overall attacking quality at times. Could have been a lot different for him if his late first-half strike went in. 5

JOHN MCATEE: His overall play was pretty strong with the limited opportunities he had to play forward with the ball but he will be frustrated with the penalty that was easily saved by AshbyHammond. 6

SUBSTITUTES KEYENDRAH SIMMONDS (74’): Provided some much-needed energy up top off the bench but did not have many touches. 6 DANILO ORSI (83’): 6 BRENDAN KIERNAN (83’): 6
