Boro go six unbeaten

-

GRIMSBY Borough extended their five-match unbeaten run with a 1-1 draw at second-bottom Shildon.

The game developed into an end-to-end affair with both teams looking to get the first goal and it arrived for Borough on 30 minutes as Adam Drury drove forward and found a lovely pass through to Reece York running from deep. He outpaced centre-back Olmond and then rounded keeper Bond to sidefoot home.

The home side were awarded a soft penalty on 40 minutes when the referee adjudged Callum Lovett to have had his arms in an unnatural position when sliding to block a cross on the byline. Michael Sweet hammered past Higton to make it 1-1.

The second half started with both teams pushing men forward to try and get a second goal.

However, there were no further goals, with Borough weathering some late pressure to secure a valuable point and extend their run to six unbeaten.

Grimsby’s next game is a massive test against league leaders Stockton Town at Bradley, 3pm.
