How we rated the Mariners’ stars ...

-

MAX CROCOMBE: Made two brilliant saves in the first half to keep the game scoreless going into the break and was the only real shining light in a tough first period. 7 MICHEE EFETE: Didn’t see a lot of the ball before the break or register a big impact on the defensive side either. 5

ANDY SMITH: Busy evening for him against a relentless Accrington side who had Town penned back for most of the game. 6

NIALL MAHER: Had a couple of driving runs from the back in the first period to try and get the team going in an attacking sense, but was certainly busy defensively speaking too. 6

DANNY AMOS: Played some nice passes in the first half, one, in particular, caught the eye with a nice floated diagonal ball for Holohan which created an opening for Town in a first 45 which did not see many opportunities created. 6

BRYN MORRIS: Important that he featured in the midfield on the night as a strong aerial presence when Accrington went more direct with their attacking play. Nothing came off for him in the second period however and he gave away the penalty with a poor challenge. 4 GAVAN HOLOHAN: Could not have the impact he would have hoped for in a game where Town were left chasing shadows most of the time. 6

EVAN Khouri: Hard-working performance in the middle with most of his good work done off the ball with some strong tracking and tackling. 6

OTIS KHAN: Did not have a great deal of influence playing in a position likely unnatural to him at right wing-back. Subbed on the hour mark. 5 KEYENDRAH SIMMONDS: Registered the only shot worth mentioning for Town in the first half but did not have much involvement in the game aside from that. One of the four players substituted on the hour mark. 5

DANILO Orsi: Ran hard up top in what was an important game for him to stake his claim to Paul Hurst, but did not receive much service and was very much isolated for large periods. 5

SUBSTITUTES

JOHN MCATEE (62’): Always going to run hard and give his all coming off the bench but the forward momentum was not there. 6

HARRY CLIFTON (62’): Had a couple of half chances late on which he did not do very well with. 6

BRENDAN KIERNAN (62’): Did not have much of an influence off the bench. 6 LEWIS RICHARDSON (62’): Involved in Town’s best chance of the evening with a goal-bound effort which was blocked. 6
