Moped catches fire after crash

A MOPED caught fire shortly after being involved in a crash in Grimsby.

Emergency services were called to an incident on Harold Street at around 3.40pm on Tuesday, November 22, after receiving reports of a collision between a moped and a car. Fire crews are said to have taped off the Rutland Street junction of the road to make way for recovery vehicles. The motorcycli­st reportedly suffered minor injuries in the collision, but the driver of the car was not harmed. The street was seen being cleaned up at around 4.40pm.

In a statement, a spokespers­on from Humberside Police said: “We were called to a road traffic collision at 3.40pm today (Tuesday) on Harold Street in Grimsby. A moped had collided with a car. The motorcycli­st suffered minor injuries in the collision. The driver was not harmed. The motorcycle set alight and the emergency services extinguish­ed the fire at the scene.”
