New opponents for Arnold’s Owls

- By PETER HAYWARD sport@grimsbytelegraph.co.uk

CLEETHORPES Town travel to the North East today to take on North Shields in the first ever meeting between the two sides.

The Owls sit third in Northern Premier League Division One East on 29 points, nine more than the Robins, who lie 10th.

Clee have won one and drawn one under new boss Nathan Arnold and a win this afternoon would further consolidate their place in the race for promotion.

The Linden outfit have won four, drawn one and lost two matches on the road so far this season and face a tough task as North Shields have an impressive record at home winning four, drawing four and losing only one. However, the Tyne and Wear outfit lost 4-0 at home to title favourites Worksop Town last time out and went down 2-1 at Bridlington two weeks’ ago.

The hosts were promoted to Northern Premier League Division One East after winning the Northern League title last season.
