One of nation’s 100 most inspiring small businesses

A NORTHERN Lincolnshi­re funeral director has been selected as one of the nation’s 100 most inspiring small businesses.

Jason Threadgold has parlours in Scunthorpe, Brigg and Barton, has been highlighte­d as Small Business Saturday UK celebrates its 10th anniversar­y this coming weekend. Founded by husband and wife team Jason and Nichola Threadgold in 2014, the recognitio­n follows it being named Small Business of the Year at the Northern Lincolnshi­re Business Awards in May.

Mr Threadgold said: “We feel so proud and humbled to have been chosen from so many other wonderful small businesses.” A grassroots, not-for-profit movement, Small Business Saturday first came to the UK in 2013 has grown into an iconic campaign celebratin­g small business success and encouragin­g consumers to shop local and support businesses in their communitie­s.

The campaign was originally founded by American Express in the US in 2010, and the brand remains the principal supporter. “It’s fantastic to celebrate small firms just like Jason Threadgold Funeral Director as part of our 10-year anniversar­y of the campaign,” said Michelle Ovens CBE, director of Small Business Saturday UK.

“Over the past decade we have been able to spotlight dynamic businesses from across the nation, who remind us of the incredible tenacity and determinat­ion of small firms in this country. It’s brilliant to have Jason Threadgold Funeral Director in this year’s SmallBiz10­0 line-up.”
