A KIND-hearted paddleboarder came to the rescue of a deer that had been “chased by a dog” into the sea off Cleethorpes beach on Saturday morning.

Video footage of the adorable moment at around 10.30am shows the paddleboarder carrying the creature back to shore, after a dog had allegedly chased it a “long way out” into the sea off Anthony’s Bank. Onlooker Bruce Martin, who captured the footage, told Grimsby Live: “Apparently a dog had chased it into the sea.

“Deers are good swimmers, but it was a long way out and the tide was receding.

“The boarder got the deer on to his board and pulled it in, and then placed it in the wooded area out of sight.”

According to Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue, deer can often suffer with a condition known as post-capture myopathy - which typically results in death - after being subjected to the stress of being captured.

But luckily, the outcome on this occasion was a positive one, with the volunteers from the organisation locating the deer shortly after the incident and deeming the creature fit and healthy.

Bruce continued: “Cleethorpes

Wildlife Rescue were made aware and they attended, but the deer moved on.

“They subsequently found it and all was well, so the outcome was good.”

The incident comes just days after another deer made Cleethorpes’ Sidney weekend.

Over the course of a few days, the rescue organisation went to huge efforts to save the deer and relocate it to a new location, after members its way to Park last of the public showed a “disregard to wildlife”.

Dog walkers reportedly “ignored” Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue’s requests to keep dogs on leads, a number of videos emerged on social media that showed dogs chasing the creature through the park. On Thursday, the deer escaped the park and was found in a Cleethorpes alleyway, before finally being moved to a new and safer location by volunteers following a “long and exhausting” rescue operation.
