Parts of A180 will close for repairs throughout May

EAST AND WESTBOUND CARRIAGEWA­YS AFFECTED

PART of the A180 will be subject to a series of closures for repairs from now until Friday, May 24. Workers from National Highways will be carrying out emergency concrete repairs on the east and westbound carriagewa­ys of the A180, between junction 5 with the M180 and the Stallingbo­rough junction. A “number of closures” will be in place overnight during the week, with weekend closures also planned, though timings have not yet been confirmed.

Diversions will be in place and motorists are asked to allow extra time for their journeys.

From tomorrow, workers will also be carrying out work to replace the bridge joints and the resurfacin­g of the slip roads at the Stallingbo­rough junction roundabout. Sections of the junction will be closed each night until Friday, May 31.

A spokespers­on for National Highways said: “We need to carry out emergency concrete repairs on the east and westbound carriagewa­ys of the A180 between junction 5 with the M180 and the Stallingbo­rough junction.

“To do this safely we will be using a number of overnight, 8pm-6am, and weekend, Friday 8pm to Monday 6am, closures from Tuesday,

May 7, until Friday 24 May. “Signed diversions will be in place and drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys. “We are carrying out the replacemen­t of the bridge joints and resurfacin­g the slip roads at the Stallingbo­rough junction roundabout. The

Stallingbo­rough bridge carries the A1173 over the A180.

“To do this safely we will be closing sections of the junction overnight from Friday, May 10, until Friday, May 31. Signed diversions will be in place, please allow extra time for your journey.”
