Grimsby people should be proud of themselves

Corinne Bryan: The thing is, Grimsby is a town, so there will be huge differences, so comparing London people to Grimsby is like chalk and cheese. My personal experience is that I have met so many amazing people here … however, I’ve also met a lot of unwelcoming people who have made me feel pretty low over the past year. There are good and bad people everywhere.

Nick Davis: A life in Grimsby, that’s an oxymoron if ever there was one. Jane Allen: Good luck to him, it’s good to see someone positive about Grimsby and he is right, the majority of people are friendly. Pam Doore: I agree with him. I came here from ‘down south’ over 40 years ago and found there is not half as much ‘them and us’ . Or being judged by your job or how much money you’ve got. I have wonderful friends and neighbours and chat to strangers on a regular basis. Grimsby people should be proud of themselves.

Paul Waters: Good on him, I wish him all the best. And it’s nice to see so many positive comments about this post.

Mark Balls: Having visited and stayed in London many times over the years, the life you can have in Grimsby and surrounding areas is far better.

Kerry Louise: I’ve always said

Grimsby is a friendly place, everyone smiles and says hi even in the worst of areas. I live in Hull now and the amount of arrogant people I come across daily is quite a shock. I’ve been here six years and still can’t get used to it.

Patsy Tyler: Me too mate, over 20 years ago!

Paige Thickett: So many people are quick to slag Grimsby off. If you don’t like it here, move. Simple. Pauline Wilcox: I’m Grimsby born and bread. When asked what it’s like to live here, like anywhere it has plus and minus [points] so just make the best of it. Home is where you choose to live, and if you are kind, helpful and friendly you will reap what you sow.

Diane Dalziel Edmonds: Good luck to him! The move here from southern areas is strong and ongoing, for all the reasons stated. I sold my Grimsby home in September 2022 and the majority of viewers were from the south, even as far as Devon. A Peterborough couple bought it.

Cheryl Chezza: Good on him and good luck. People like him deserve to get on in life.

Nona Penistone Thomas: Agreed with all of this, we moved here on a whim from down south not knowing anyone (know a few others who did the same now) and don’t regret it.

Luke Finch: I’ve lived south in Essex which borders London. Essex is by far better than Grimsby in terms of most things. The only thing better is it’s cheaper in Grimsby. The best thing about Grimsby is it’s close to Lincoln. Also it’s a myth that Grimsby is friendlier. It’s no different, it’s just as friendly down south.
